Peter Pan Live! took the Internet and audiences by storm last night, but did its star outshine her predecessor from The Sound of Music Live!?
Both musical productions hailed from Craig Zadan and Neil Meron of Smash, Chicagoand Hairspray fame, but they were certainly two very different shows. The second in a new NBC tradition of live productions, Peter Pan Live! starred Girls' Allison Williams, Christopher Walken, Christian Borle, Kelli O'Hara, Taylor Louderman, Alanna Saunders and Minnie Driver.
Last year, NBC aired The Sound of Music Live!, featuring Carrie Underwood, Stephen Moyer, Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Borle to big numbers and a lot of sarcastic tweets.
Aside from HBO's Girls, this was Williams' biggest role to date. She strapped on that cropped wig, some Peter Pan fishnet sleeves and delivered one heck of a performance. InThe Sound of Music, Underwood played Maria, a nun-turned nanny to the Von Trapp family. The Sound of Music was one of Underwood's only acting gigs besides Soul Surferand an episode of How I Met Your Mother...surprised?
So, who was better? Did you believe in Neverland with Williams or did Underwood make you want to sing through the Swiss Alps?
Vote in the poll below!
For their follow up, NBC is working on a live production of The Music Man and a live version of the play A Few Good Men.
