Rosario Dawson Refuses to Discuss Her Recent Adoption With Matt Lauer on Today: "Mum's the Word"
Rosario Dawson happily discussed her role in Chris Rock's Top Five on NBC's TodayWednesday, but when Matt Lauer inquired about her recent adoption, the new mom shut him down. "I very rarely talk about tabloid speculation and this is not an exception," she replied. "My family is incredibly private—most of us anyway. I don't think anyone's going to be writing a book anytime soon, just because we're too lazy." Lauer didn't mean to upset Dawson, telling her, "I ask it only because it's such a sweet story."
"Believe me, if anyone were to talk about this, including myself..." she said before speaking in Spanish. "We're going to keep...mum's the word. I'm really glad to be here talking aboutTop Five, so thank you."
On Tuesday, a source told E! News that the single actress was "over the moon" after adopting a 12-year-old daughter. "She has always wanted this," the source said of Dawson, who was adopted as an infant.

The 35-year-old actress hasn't always been so secretive about her adoption plans.
In a 2008 interview with Latina magazine, Dawson said, "I always wanted to adopt kids 'cause my dad adopted me. That idea has stayed in the back of my head, but lately, I've been thinking about it more."
"My mother and grandmother are extraordinary women, and they're getting older," the Sin City: A Dame to Kill For star said. "It struck me recently that one day I might be sitting around with my children, going, 'Your grandma was an amazing woman; I really wish you could've known her.' That makes me sad 'cause it would be a waste to not have these people know each other. Whatever time I have, I want it."
