Before Bruce Wayne became Batman, he had to figure out who he was. In Knight of Cups,Christian Bale is on a similar mission as his former cape-clad character—finding himself.
The new trailer for Knight of Cups shows Bale's character, Rick, navigating his new life in the Hollywood fast lane, but he shortly loses sight of himself when sex, celebrity and temptation taunt him. Because the trailer explores Bale's newfound fame, it's not surprising that the cast is full of A-listers!
Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Antonio Banderas, Freida Pinto, Wes Bentley and many others star in this Terrence Malick flick. With quick-flashing scenes, constant partying and plenty of women to go around, the plot isn't that clear—aside from the identity crisis—but an ever-cryptic synopsis might add to the mystery shrouding this all-star lineup's movie.
"Once there was a young prince whose father, the king of the East, sent him down into Egypt to find a pearl. But when the prince arrived, the people poured him a cup. Drinking it, he forgot he was the son of a king, forgot about the pearl and fell into a deep sleep. Rick's father used to read this story to him as a boy. The road to the East stretches out before him. Will he set forth?"
We guess we'll find out in 2015!
What we can assume so far is that Rick is romantically involved with Blanchett's character, but he finds himself tangled in other women's webs.
"You have love in you," Portman says in voice over. "I know it."
