Idina Menzel Responds to Her Critics After "Let It Go" Performance on New Year's Eve Goes Viral

Idina Menzel Responds to Her Critics After "Let It Go" Performance on New Year's Eve Goes Viral

Sounds like Idina Menzel had a New Year's Rocky Eve.
The Broadway star certainly caught the attention of millions of viewers Wednesday night when she tried to sing that high note in the beloved Frozen song "Let It Go."
But according to the always honest Twitter world, she didn't exactly rock the night.
For better or worse, Menzel heard the critics loud and clear and she has something to say about that cold, winter night.
"This is something I said in an interview a few months ago," the 43-year-old star tweeted with a photo showing how she defines succes
"There are about 3 million notes in a two-and-a-half-hour musical; being a perfectionist, it took me a long time to realize that if I'm hitting 75 percent of them, I'm succeeding," she said. "Performing isn't only about the acrobatics and the high notes: It's staying in the moment, connecting with the audience in an authentic way, and making yourself real to them through the music."
She continued, "I am more than the notes I hit, and that's how I try to approach my life."
In Menzel's defense, the great outdoors of Times Square isn't exactly the best venue to belt out a classic. And with frigid temperatures, we can only imagine how it felt to walk onstage.
"You can't get it all right all the time, but you can try your best," she concluded. "If you've done that, all that's left is to accept your shortcomings and have the courage to try to overcome them."
Don't worry, Menzel. Thousands of parents still have "Let It Go" on replay. Plus, we still have our calendars marked for the Frozen Fever short. Is it March 13 yet?!

And the Best Celeb of 2014 Is...One Direction or Jennifer Lawrence?

And the Best Celeb of 2014 Is...One Direction or Jennifer Lawrence?

You voted, and the winner of our Best Celeb of 2014 poll is...
One Direction!

The popular boy band, made up of Liam PayneNiall HoranLouis TomlinsonZayn Malikand Harry Styles and known for hits such as "Story of My Life," "One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)," "Best Song Ever" and "Steal My Girl," easily beat fellow finalist Jennifer Lawrence in the last round of our poll.
Perhaps it's their good looks, irrestistible accents or maybe those super catchy songs. Whatever the case may be, Directioners made their point proving this band isn't going anywhere in 2015.
In previous Best Celeb of 2014 rounds, the group and Lawrence, an Oscar-winning actress and star of The Hunger Games movie series, both beat the likes of:
  • 5 Seconds of Summer
  • Beyoncé
  • Rihanna
  • Taylor Swift
  • Ariana Grande
  • Liam Hemsworth
  • Chris Hemsworth
  • Shailene Woodley
  • Blake Lively
  • Carrie Underwood
  • Ryan Gosling
  • Channing Tatum
  • Idris Elba
  • Benedict Cumberbatch
We wish we could say the competition wasn't tough, but that's certainly not the case either! Congrats to One Direction and happy new year to all!

Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, who served three terms in office between 1983 and 1994, has died. He was 82.
According to NBC News, the Democrat politician died of heart failure New Year's Day only hours after his son, Andrew Cuomo, delivered a speech to begin his second term as governor.
"He couldn't be here physically today, but my father is in the room," Andrew told the crowd during his speech. "He is in the heart and mind of every person who is here. He is here, and his inspiration and his legacy and his experience is what has brought the state to this point."
As soon as the news broke, celebrities and notable political figures both in and out of the Big Apple expressed their sadness about the loss. Take a look at what they have to say about the highly regarded politician.

Demi Lovato Reflects on Her Weight and We Are Left Completely Inspired Once Again

Demi Lovato Reflects on Her Weight and We Are Left Completely Inspired Once Again
After experiencing another successful year both personally and professionally, the "Heart Attack" singer is starting the new year off right with another inspiring Instagram post.
Before the clock struck midnight Thursday morning, Lovato posted two images of herself both from the beginning and the end of 2014. After admiring the photos, the 22-year-old couldn't help but feel proud.
"I was beautiful then, and I'm beautiful now," she wrote online. "I decided to focus on bettering myself by making changes in my life with health, balance, endurance and consistency."
And here comes the motivating words we know and love from Lovato.
"You don't have to wait till the beginning of a new year to make resolutions for yourself," she explained. "It's all about loving and taking care of the only body you will ever have…cherish it, love it, embrace it…Because when you do...It begins to show."
Call it happiness, a glow or just contentment. But whatever it is, Lovato certainly has it as she continues to date Wilmer Valderrama and make powerful music. Yes, we'd like to nominate "Nightingale" for best song of 2015 already.
"Goodbye 2014," she concluded. "Who's excited for what we can accomplish in 2015?!! Let's do this!!!!"

Jennifer Lopez's Documentary Reveals the Singer's Intense Pain and Sadness While Divorcing Marc Anthony

Jennifer Lopez's Documentary Reveals the Singer's Intense Pain and Sadness While Divorcing Marc Anthony

If there's one thing Jennifer Lopez really wants in her life, it's a healthy and lasting marriage.
Unfortunately, those dreams couldn't come true with Marc Anthony as the couple ultimatelydivorced after seven years of marriage.
But behind all the headlines, fans of Lopez never got to see what the singer was really feeling and experiencing in real time…until now!
On Wednesday's premiere of the HBO Documentary, Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again, cameras rolled as the "Booty" singer experienced pure "pain" when separating and divorcing from her husband.
"That wasn't my dream. My dream was for us to always be together," she shared with the cameras. "You never want to break up family."
The split was extra difficult because her twins, Max and Emme, were traveling with mom during her first world tour making it harder to see dad on a regular basis.
"This is so I can always remember my daddy," Emme explained to the crew while holding her red heart-shaped necklace. "I'm going to be with him. I want to remember him so I bought this heart."
"It hurts me to see them miss him so much," Lopez said while tearing up. "They miss him so much."
For much of the tour, the "On the Floor" crooner had to stay focused on her children and her job at hand. But through all the rehearsals, support from fans and sold-out crowds, Lopez couldn't escape the pain of divorce.
"I remember being on the set and being in my dressing room and not feeling like I could get up in the morning and there's just no pain like that. There's no pain or failure like going through a divorce," she explained. "That hope, that dream, that fairytale, with that first time that dream gets blown to pieces, you feel like you're going to die."
She added, "You feel like you failed. You feel like no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make it work."
Despite the heartache and sadness, Lopez couldn't help but suggest bringing Anthony to her final tour stop in Puerto Rico so they could perform "No Me Ames" together. With little hesitation, Anthony agreed leaving fans absolutely thrilled.
"There's still love there and I think that's a big statement for people to see," Lopez explained after singing onstage with her ex. "It says we've moved on and we're healthy….We took this journey and we're better. We survived."

Happy New Year! See Who Kourtney Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown and More Kissed at Midnight!

So who did you kiss at midnight on New Year's Eve?
Not our business? Fine, but we can't help but fall in love with all the Hollywood stars who snapped a picture with their significant other during the celebrations.
We loved when Miley Cyrus posted her first Instagram with boyfriend Patrick Schwarzenegger. And yes, it was a big smooch on the lips!
There was also Lady Gaga taking a moment out of her performance at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas to deliver a kiss to boyfriend Taylor Kinney. Love is in the air folks!
But one kiss that deserves a little extra recognition is Chris Brown and his special lady.
Although the original Instagram post has been deleted, it appears that the "Run It" singer shared a kiss with on-again, off-again girlfriend Karrueche Tran. Perhaps they're starting fresh in 2015?
Relationship status aside, let's get back to what we promised: Lots and lots of smooches. Take a look at all the celebs who started the new year off right with a little PDA!

Teen Mom's Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra Welcome a Baby Girl—Find Out Which Co-Star Spilled the News!

Teen Mom's Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra Welcome a Baby Girl—Find Out Which Co-Star Spilled the News!
Congratulations are in order for one of Teen Mom's most memorable couples.
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra welcomed a beautiful and healthy baby girl New Year's Day. And as it turns out, Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry was the one to spill the beans.
"Congratulations to my good friends @CatelynnLowell and @TylerBaltierra," she tweeted. "Cannot wait to meet your new bundle of joy." Tyler replied with the message, "Thanks Kail! Can't wait for you to meet her either!"
The engaged couple put their first child, daughter Carly, up for adoption in May 2009 and allowed America to witness the emotional process through MTV's 16 and Pregnant.
More than five years later, both reality stars believe they are absolutely ready to raise a child on their own.
"I am an adult and I can tell when I'm ready," Catelynn tweeted shortly after her pregnancy news broke. "idc what ANYONE says I'm gonna do me! We ARE READY for a baby.#HatersGonnaHate."
Tyler echoed his fiancé's sentiments by writing, "Yeah I want a baby, so what!? I have been through enough in my life to understand the wisdom it takes to make this decision #BackOff#IDGAF."
As they welcome a new family member, the twosome also appears to be more in love than ever before.
Just last month, Tyler reaffirmed his love for Catelynn by gifting her a brand new engagement ring on Christmas
"She's the best thing that has ever happened to me," Tyler wrote on Instagram just before the holidays. "She's everything I want that I never knew I needed. She's the most selfless, kind hearted woman that I'm lucky enough to call mine."
And while the twosome is more than excited to welcome another child, both Tyler and Catelynn can't help but think of Carly often.
"Thinking of my daughter A LOT!" Tyler shared on Facebook the same day he revealed the gender of his second child. "I wish she could be here to share the joy of today with me #Bittersweet #SacrificeNEVERstops."
Congratulations to the happy couple on their baby news!

Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger Ring in 2015 With Newly Engaged Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello!

Miley Cyrus and Patrick Schwarzenegger are starting 2015 with a whole lot of love!
The young Hollywood couple headed to Las Vegas over the holiday to kick off the new year with a bang as they celebrated with family and some surprise friends.
It all began with a fabulous dinner at Strip House Las Vegas inside the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino where the pair were joined by newly engaged Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger and his girlfriend Heather Milligan.
"Excited for the new year!!!!" the Modern Family star wrote on her Whosay page while posing with her fiancé and the Terminator star. "Wishing everyone a lot of work and happiness!!!)
She later shared a solo shot with just her main man and a caption, "Happy New Year!!!!! Feliz añooo."
After a tasty meal that included New York strip steak and black truffle creamed spinach and potato, the group headed to the sold-out Britney Spears concert at the same hotel.
"Sofia and Joe were very affectionate, holding hands and whispering in each other's ears the whole time," an eyewitness told E! News. Not to be outdone, Patrick and Miley also appeared to have a blast while sitting a few tables away from the pair.
"Miley danced the whole time and sang along," the eyewitness added. Patrick even got a midnight kiss after a night of non-stop hits. "2015," the "Party in the U.S.A." darling shared in her first Instagram post that included her new man!
And what could be the cherry on top to a fabulous night? Everyone got to meet Spears before showtime!
Or in Miley's case, she was just saying hello again to her dear friend. After all, she's seen (and loved) the "Piece of Me" Las Vegas show before.

Kanye West Pays Tribute to North West and His Mother in "Only One" Song That Makes Kim Kardashian Cry

Kanye West Pays Tribute to North West and His Mother in "Only One" Song That Makes Kim Kardashian Cry

Kanye West is starting off 2015 on a sweet and solemn note.
The 37-year-old hip-hop star pays tribute to his and wife Kim Kardashian's 1-year-old daughter North West and his late mother, Donda West, with a ballad titled "Only One," a collaboration with Sir Paul McCartney.
The single was released on iTunes on Wednesday night, New Year's Eve, and its lyrics were penned with the perspective of Kanye's mom, who died at age 58 in 2007 after undergoing plastic surgery.
Sample lyrics include "Hello my only one / Just like the morning sun / You'll keep on rising till the sky knows your name / And you're still my chosen one / Remember who you are / No, You're not perfect but you're not your mistakes" and "Tell Nori about me / Tell Nori about me / I just want you to do me a favor / Tell Nori about me."
"People always ask me what my favorite Kanye song is and it's 'Only One,'" Kim, 34, said on her Twitter page, adding, "I cry every time I hear this song."
In August, Kim had shared a sweet pic of her husband and their daughter in a recording studio. Kanye's new single is set to be featured in a future solo album by Kanye, whose most recent major record release was the 2013 album Yeezus.
According to a statement released by record company Def Jam, he and McCartney began working together in a small bungalow in Los Angeles, with the former Beatles musician improvising on the keyboards and the hip-hop star "vocally sketching and shaping ideas in a stream-of-consciousness riff."
"When they played back the recording afterward, something remarkable happened," the statement said. "Kanye sat there with his family, holding his daughter North on his lap, and listened to his vocals, singing, 'Hello, my only one...' And in that moment, not only could he not recall having sung those words, but he realized that perhaps the words had never really come from him."
Kanye "understood in that moment that his late mother, Dr. Donda West, who was also his mentor, confidante, and best friend, had spoken through him that day," the statement added, quoting him as saying, "My mom was singing to me, and through me to my daughter."
The statement also added that Kanye's name, which Donda had chosen, means "only one."
"And then it dawned on everyone there: Something powerful and undeniable had occurred through the power of music and of letting go. A message had been passed down through generations," the statement continued. "And so it is that there was only one song that could be released first from this groundbreaking collaboration: 'Only One,' an anthem of positive reflection, hopefulness and joyous celebration to usher in a New Year."

We're Calling It! The Trendiest Health Foods of 2015

We're Calling It! The Trendiest Health Foods of 2015
This just in: Kale is so 2014.
Actually, the king of all greens is still quite good for you, but E! News has the scoop from Dr. Frank Lipman, an Integrative & Functional Medicine Physician and founder of Eleven Eleven Wellness Center, on other eats that will help kick your health into overdrive for the New Year. We're talking savory broths, sustainable proteins and fermented sides that are not just for hot dogs.
So this year, make sure to do your body right with foods that will nourish your digestive system, jumpstart your metabolism and make you feel, well, great. Read on for Dr. Lippman's picks below!
All About the Bone Broth - Full of healing nutrients collagen and gelatin, bone broth has justifiably been a staple of the human diet for thousands of years. This increasingly popular superfood has made a comeback as of late, not only does it nourishes your digestive system, but because it also reduces inflammation, promotes healthy skin and increases the bio-availability of nutrients.
Cauliflower's the New Kale - Due to its white color, cauliflower is often misperceived as lacking in nutrition, however, this cruciferous vegetable packs a powerful punch! Cauliflower is particularly noted for its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and digestive health benefits.
It's an excellent source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K and folate. Cauliflower is great roasted, sautéed and these days my favorite way to prepare it is making
Go Grass Fed! - Grass-fed animal products pack a bigger nutritional punch than the standard issue factory-farmed, antibiotic-laced stuff. You'll find that grass-fed meats are higher in beta carotene (Vitamin A), conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and Omega-3 fatty acids, which all help keep cholesterol, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure in check.
Grass-fed products are also significantly lower in fat, cholesterol and calories. Better yet, grass-fed is virtually free from the threat of E. coli outbreaks – another major plus for meat-eaters.  Check out the American Grass-fed Association  to find grass-fed producers in your area.

Wowzers. We Just Watched the Glee Premiere and Here's What You Need to Know

Wowzers. We Just Watched the Glee Premiere and Here's What You Need to Know

It's finally here!
Glee's sixth season is set to premiere Friday, Jan. 9 with a two-hour premiere, and we just got our grubby little hands on a screener of it. Want to know what to expect from the first two episodes? Read on!
1. The focus is truly back on the characters we've known for six years now, in the place we've known for six years now. It's a big far-fetched, of course, that all the notable people would end up back in Lima at McKinley HIgh, but we're just gonna roll with it, 'cause it's actually weirdly satisfying to see them all there again. Some of that season-one magic has returned, and we're not mad at it.
2. Newcomer Samantha Ware Is INCREDIBLE. As the (wannabe) Warbler-turned-New Directioner, she steals pretty much every scene. More, please!
3. The first episode, "Loser Like Me," shows what happened with Rachel's TV show, That's So Rachel, and why she ends up back in Lima. Don't think it's overly spoilery to say, it, um, did not go well.
4. There's a very notable break-up that is much of the focus of the first two episodes. We're not happy about it. Especially the bar scene at the end of episode one, which is cringe upon cringe-worthy, but we all know it will be a happy ending eventually (this IS Glee!), so we're gonna choose to just…BREATHE, thankyouverymuch.
5. Apparently Rachel is offensive to many special interest groups? Huh.
6. CUTE BABY ALERT. Not gonna say who, but we see the most adorable baby and baby daddy scene and we just DARE you not to squee. Our ovaries pretttty much exploded.
7. Aside from the break-up story (you'd have to be living under a rock in the bottom of the ocean not to know who), not much else happening, romance wise. At least not yet, in the first two episodes. (Sorry, Brittana and Quick fans! Your day will come!)
8. In the second episode, "Homecoming," the gang is all back together in episode two. At McKinley High. They are always "just a phone call away."
9. The old-school Cheerios perform "99 Problems" and it. Is. Everything.
10. Sue Sylvester has returned to her Arts-defying-rage season one glory.
11. In the first hour, there is a scene with a "Yogi Bear and Boo Boo" reference that will slay you.
12. There are five new characters introduced in episode two, all of whom join New Directions, and three of whom we are totally sold on. Two of them are the Cheerios twins, brother and sister, who are so Flowers-in-the-Attic-y (a reference Kitty herself makes), that we just aren't sure whether to laugh or ralph. Is there such a thing as a laugh-ralph? The others, though, including the Warbler-turned-New Directioner (again, yes, Samantha Ware, yes), a loner with a kick-ass voice, and a post-modern gay football player, are on point!
