Governor Mario Cuomo Dead at 82: Alec Baldwin, Russell Simmons and More Stars Share Their Condolences
Former New York Governor Mario Cuomo, who served three terms in office between 1983 and 1994, has died. He was 82.
According to NBC News, the Democrat politician died of heart failure New Year's Day only hours after his son, Andrew Cuomo, delivered a speech to begin his second term as governor.
"He couldn't be here physically today, but my father is in the room," Andrew told the crowd during his speech. "He is in the heart and mind of every person who is here. He is here, and his inspiration and his legacy and his experience is what has brought the state to this point."
